Aguirre & Fields Announces Roadway Group Lead

On October 25, Aguirre & Fields hired David W. Clarke, P.E. to serve as our Roadway Group Lead. Clarke will play a pivotal role in cultivating relationships in communities across Texas and Oklahoma, as well as mentoring developing engineers throughout the company.

“We have all been an up-and-coming engineer at one point,” reflects Clarke, “with the best intentions to consistently do things at the highest level. Having experienced engineers that you can rely on to share lessons learned goes a long way in developing an engineer and is critical to our overall success.”

Clarke brings over 40 years of design and project management experience in transportation, with an emphasis on highways and tollways. He originates from Rochester, New York, where he worked for the City of Rochester Street Design Department and served 15 years as Director of Highway Operations for the Monroe County Department of Transportation. In 2002, he and his family moved to McKinney, Texas.

“Moving from New York state to Texas was a fairly big adjustment, as you can imagine,” says Clarke, “but we really love it here, especially in McKinney, where we have plenty of opportunities to enjoy many outdoor activities.”

A proud and dedicated citizen of his current stomping grounds, Clarke has served on several boards and committees for the city of McKinney, including the Parks Board and the McKinney Community Development Corporation. He is a member of ACEC, ASCE, TSPE, and the McKinney Chamber Leadership Alumni Association.

“Community involvement is very important to me,” says Clarke. “I think that really is what differentiates Aguirre & Fields from other firms I’ve worked for. We’re not just here to build or design a road, we’re here to build a community.”

Clarke sees many opportunities to build such communities, especially in the greater Dallas-Fort Worth area.

“I’m looking forward to developing a greater presence here, as there is a lot of work to be had in this region,” he says. “At one point in my career, I was responsible for opening an office in Brownsville to fulfill a multi-million-dollar contract and only had 90 days to do so! The fact that Aguirre & Fields prioritizes the strength of many means I will have unparalleled support from all our offices to accomplish whatever goal we set, no matter how ambitious.”
