The Elroy Road Widening project in Travis County allows additional capacity for traffic entering and leaving the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) event venue during large race events as well as provide Travis County Fire Rescue an additional lane for ingress/egress for emergency response mobility. The widening also provides an evacuation route during flood events.

The $25 million project will convert the existing two-lane roadway from McAngus Road to Kellam Road into a four-lane divided roadway with bike lanes and sidewalks, relieving congestion. The project crosses a large flood plain and is being raised using a bridge structure to reduce the probability of flooding and to provide continued access to residents during such flood events. The project also adds east and west roadway capacity in the region.

Aguirre & Fields is performing CEI services for the 15-span concrete girder bridge structure. Our inspection work includes all materials, substructure, and superstructure inspections for the completion of this 4-lane bridge that includes one bike lane and one pedestrian sidewalk on each side of the bridge.

Additionally, Aguirre & Fields performed the design of this 1,500 ft long and 90 ft wide bridge as well as the design of some minor drainage structures along Elroy Road. The project was designed with phased construction to allow traffic to remain open at all times and provided time and space for utility relocation to complete.
