Walkway at Arlington Bridge at Rangers Lot R

With the vast population growth and increasing congestion in the Arlington, TX area, Aguirre & Fields supported the City of Arlington and surrounding communities for the design of a bridge between Cowboys Way and Rangers Parking Lot R in front of Globe Life Field. The 2-lane bridge spans the autonomous people mover path and provides new access/egress to the new Texas Rangers stadium for the traveling public and pedestrians.

The bridge includes a 10-foot sidewalk, secured with interior railing, for the safe passage of pedestrians traveling to and from the parking areas and the entertainment venues.  The aesthetics were designed to match the surrounding entertainment district for visual appeal.

Aguirre & Fields also designed a single cast-in-place spread footing retaining wall for the switch back pedestrian trail leading to the bridge.

Multiple unique challenges were faced on this project, including utility conflicts in multiple locations, complex grading at the abutments to meet existing retaining walls, and aesthetic elements in both steel and concrete placed on the bridge.
