Water/Wastewater Structure Design

Aguirre & Fields is experienced in structural investigation, analysis, design and construction support services for water supply and wastewater treatment facilities, process tanks, embedded basins, treatment facilities, reservoirs, shore facilities, docks, harbors, storage facilities, pumping stations, conveyance systems, chemical/fuel storage and delivery systems, vehicular/equipment maintenance shops, administrative and operations buildings. We are experienced in sludge disposal facilities, basins (lagoons), above-ground and below-ground tanks, ponds, reservoirs, and distribution facilities, piers, retrofitting and repair of structures, and damage assessments from natural disasters and events.

Projects include:

Metro H2O WWTP, Treatment Basin Phase I, Manor - Wastewater treatment plant consisting of anerobic digester chamber, membrane reaction chambers, anerobic basins, equalization basin, and disinfection basin as well as a foundation for the covered blowers and mechanical equipment. Control room building of 21' x 13'.

Barton Creek WWTP Renovation, Austin - Renovation of existing wastewater treatment unit. Existing steel tank was approximately 15' tall and 52' in diameter. Some of the internal existing bulkheads and baffles were rearranged.

South WWTP Phase I Expansion, Cinco MUD No. 1, Katy - Entrance structure and aeration basin.

Golden Acres WWTP, Pasadena - Foundation, floors, walls, and roof for new belt filter press building.

Atascocita Jail WWTP, Atascocita - Steel ground storage tank foundation, hydro-pneumatic tank foundation, pump pad and storage building for chlorine disinfection and motor control.

69th Street Sludge Disposal Plant, Houston - Repair of the sludge disposal plant damaged by an explosion and extensive fire. Developed plans for the repair of reinforced concrete column beams and slabs. Developed plans for heat straightening or replacement of steel roof members.

Kingwood Central Sewage Treatment Plant Phase III Expansion, Houston - Modified aeration basin structure for increased capacity. Structures for a grit removal facility as well as an elevated mixed liquor splitter box.

Pharr WWTP Expansion, Pharr - Walls and slab for a new oxidation ditch, digester, chlorine contact basin, and final clarifier.

Travis County WCID 20, Water Treatment Expansion, Travis County - Double-wall, cast-in-place concrete Clearwell No. 2 with top and bottom slabs. Buried clear well had a 24' inside diameter and was 19' from top of bottom slab to bottom of top slab.

LCRA West Travis County Hamilton Pool Road Pumping Station, Travis County - Pump station building 32'x 56' surrounded on three sides with cast-in-place concrete retaining walls. Building foundation, crane runway support system, CMU building walls, roof truss framing system, and concrete retaining walls.

LCRA High Service Pump Station, Travis County - Pump station building 93'x63' containing six pumps. Building contained pump bases; a piping pit with grating; and a three-ton, top-running crane that ran the length of building. Main roof was a barrel roof truss system and exterior walls were CMU.

Barclay Drive Pump Station, Austin - “L” shaped pump station building 48'x49' containing three pumps. Building contained pump bases and two piping pits with grating. Pits were approximately 6'-6” deep by 6' wide running the length of building. Concrete foundation was supported on drilled piers located at pre-engineered metal building columns.
